Saturday May 5
At breakfast, a pretty female friend of Carlos joined Kerry and me. She didn’t stop talking and didn’t look a me the entire time. I went back to the room and started to pack as we have to leave the hotel at 8am tomorrow. Kerry came up and joined me in packing his stuff. Carlos and his friend came up when I was in the shower and stay for a short time and told Kerry they would meet us at the show. We left the hotel at 11:30 to rehearse. We arrived just before noon and of course no one was there. The students dribbled in over then next two hours. At three forty people started wandering in. The embassy hadn’t done any publicity. We heard two stories. One they had a security concern that there would be protests. Two that Gabriella just hadn’t gotten to it. We had a bunch of extra t-shirts which I began to give away. The show was announced for four, we started at 4:20. I led the group in some theater games and improv’s including the audience and then a movement piece to a poem by Rebecca; and Kerry’s play. The reaction was very positive. There were promises to carry on the work, and parents moved to tears. Everyone thought the process and the product were very beneficial. We felt good. Gabriella wanted to have dinner with us all. So we went back to the hotel. Carlos and his friend and Kerry took a cab and rest of us rode with Gabriella to a local restaurant where we all ate too much. Afterwards we returned to the hotel and I finished packing, almost. Carlos went to sleep right away, Kerry next and me around midnight.
